Alejandro - Agricultural worker

Petrona - Homemaker and sells vegetables at the local market

Alejandro & Petrona are in their late 60’s and keep busy working every day.  Their home is a cold and wet one.  Constructed of lamina this “home” leans up against a neighbor’s block wall.  When we last visited,  Alejandro & Petrona had moved out temporarily because the rain from a recent storm had totally soaked their home and belongings.  The floor inside their home was covered in puddles of water.

After we had selected this family to be part of our “Home for Christmas” campaign.  Petrona came to us in tears to explain that her land had been stolen from her by her daughter.  A few years ago Petrona was in the hospital and her daughter came with a paper that she said was a document the hospital needed to be signed.  Neither Alejandro nor Petrona can read or write, so they gave their thumbprint, which is the same as a signature here, thinking they were signing some sort of medical document.  The document was actually to give their land away to their daughter.  The daughter then went and mortgaged the full value of the full value of the property but never made a payment.  Alejandro & Petrona became aware of the situation a few weeks ago when the loan holder showed up at their house demanding payment….

Without property we can’t help families. Currently a friend of Alejandro & Petrona is trying to raise funds to pay for a modest piece of property for a home.  If you would like to help with the home and/or contribute towards the property (about $1300 USD) it would be an unbelievable blessing to this couple.  Help us bring them a home for Christmas!
